Tiphaine Le Roy Post-doctoral fellow in the unit “Nutrition and Obesity: systemic approaches” at the Sorbonne University, UMRS 1269.

Tiphaine Le Roy completed her thesis on the role of the microbiota in the development of obesity-related liver pathologies at the Micalis Institute (Microbiology of Food for Health) of INRA (French National Institute for Agricultural Research), obtaining her PhD in 2012. She subsequently focused on the role of the gut microbiota in the regulation of cholesterol metabolism at the INSERM U1166 unit at Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital. In 2016, she joined Prof. Patrice Cani’s team in Brussels for a second post-doctoral fellowship. There she developed research work aimed at isolating unknown bacterial species from the human gut microbiota and determining their beneficial or deleterious effect in the development of obesity and associated metabolic diseases.

Since January 2020, Tiphaine has been back in France, where, as part of Prof. Karine Clément’s unit at Sorbonne University in Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital, she is advancing her research activities on the link between the motility of the bacteria of the gut microbiota, the physicochemical characteristics of the gut mucosa and the development of metabolic diseases.
